Saransk held its main eSports event of this summer
On August 5, as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the canonization of the Holy Righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov, naval interactive battles were held among eSportsmen in the World of Warships discipline.
The tournament was organized by the Saransk IT company BYTEX. Eight combined teams from different regions were able to play and compete for an impressive prize fund provided by the Government of the Republic of Mordovia: 100 thousand rubles for the first place, 50 and 25 thousand rubles were received by the teams that took 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
Qualifying battles were held in an online format. On August 5, the best ones were able to meet in an offline computer duel — the battles were held in a 3×3 format, while the game developer Wargaming offered teams to use special accounts that allowed them to equip their combat fleets to the maximum and reveal their skills in battle. All day long, gamers fought for the title of the best: they were changing battle strategies and analyzing the tactics of their opponents. As a result, prizes were distributed as follows:
1st place – IBIZA (Moscow, Orel) – 100,000 rubles prize
2nd place – KRAKEN (Ryazan, Saransk) – 50,000 rubles prize
3rd place – MORDOR (Saransk) – 25,000 rubles prize.
Presenting the awards, Igor Volfson, Acting Minister of Communications and Informatization, noted that such tournaments should be held more often. Acting Minister of Sports and Youth Policy Alexander Savilov expressed the opinion that not only regional, but also Olympic eSports competitions are waiting for us pretty soon, in which today’s winners will also be able to prove themselves.
